At Clear Waterways Group, we are developing the Aqua Clarifier Water System, a patented, portable, self-contained mobile water clarification system that uses proven dissolved air flotation technology to remove harmful algal blooms, excess nutrients, bacteria, oil, grease, and other contaminants from lakes, ponds, rivers, and tributaries.
Unlike traditional chemical treatments that only provide temporary clarity, the Aqua Clarifier Water System achieves permanent pollutant removal. Field and bench-scale tests have proven it can significantly reduce nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended solids — reversing the harmful effects of nutrient pollution, including toxic Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs).

Communities spend tens of thousands annually on short-term chemical applications, yet the root problem persists.

Strategic Pollutant Removal
The Aqua Clarifier Water System is designed for flexibility and reach:
- Portable: Accesses remote locations of lakes, ponds, and rivers.
- Stationary: Operates near inlets, tributaries, or shorelines to intercept point- and non-point source pollutants before they spread downstream.
- Dual Mode Treatment:
- Air-only operation achieves significant nutrient and algae reduction without chemicals.
- Low-dose potable chemistry (when required) enhances performance, with all chemistry safely captured and removed onboard.
Proven Results
- Pontoosuc Lake (Pittsfield, MA): Air-only treatment achieved ~74% nutrient reductions on average, with peaks above 80%.
- 2026 Field Pilot Testing: Testing at Pontoosuc Lake demonstrated substantial removal of phosphorus, nitrogen, suspended algae and cyanobacteria, including up to 96% phosphorus removal, 88% TKN removal, and approximately 89% cyanobacteria cell-density removal

Looking Ahead
The Aqua Clarifier Water System is already proving itself at the pilot scale, and we are actively scaling up:
- Current Prototype (TRL4): Operates at ~70 gallons per minute (GPM). Successfully tested in Pontoosuc Lake with air-only treatment, achieving ~74–80% reductions in nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended solids.
Next Generation System: Development work completed in 2026 has advanced the design of a higher-capacity system targeting approximately 200 GPM, with improvements in hydraulics, air distribution, controls, chemical dosing, and overall treatment consistency. The next-generation platform is intended for larger lakes, tributaries, and municipal applications.
Future Systems: The technology is designed to scale through larger commercial units or multiple systems operating in parallel, creating a pathway to hundreds to thousands of GPM for regional projects, industrial water treatment, nutrient removal, and large-scale algae harvesting.
- Beyond nutrient and contaminant removal, future Aqua Clarifier Water System will support a circular economy by:
- Harvesting algae for fertilizer, soil amendment, and bioenergy.
- Generating nutrient trading credits and carbon credits through verified pollutant and carbon capture.
- Providing municipalities and lake associations with both cost savings and new revenue opportunities.

It Starts with a Test
To know how effectively the Aqua Clarifier Water System will work in your waterway, we begin with a simple test. Every lake, pond, or stream is different — so we evaluate your water sample to see how well our system performs under your unique conditions.
The Aqua Clarifier Water System has proven effective in different scenarios:
- Air-Only Mode: During active blooms, our dissolved air flotation (DAF) process removes algae and suspended solids without the need for chemicals.
- Low-Dose Chemistry Mode: At other times — such as seasonal transitions or when the water looks clear — we can still remove hidden nutrients bound to organic material. In these cases, a very small, potable-grade coagulant is added. It’s safe for drinking water and fully captured and removed onboard.
